We made a big ole road trip to visit our families and had a wonderful time. It took a long drive to get there and a long drive back, but the kids managed to do okay thanks to the new minivan!
Charlie and Grandma hanging out at my grandparents house on Father's Day
The Sullentrup cousins. This is Lucy's new smile.
Grandma reading to Corbin and Charlie
We toured around the Art Museum for a bit and then explored a small part of Forest Park
He was just really interested in that tree.
Peter has no fear. James had to hold him back from diving right into the water.
We took a trip to the zoo!
At the children's zoo, Lucy and Charlie petted a guinea pig.
There were brushes to brush the goats, so funny.
This was just after Charlie leaned forward and kissed the fish tank. I guess he liked them!
Lucy was very interested in the map and kept consulting it.
The three animals Lucy most wanted to see were zebras, giraffes and rhinoceros. We got two out of three!
Lucy posing with the Stanley Crane.
On the zoo train.
On the carousel.
On our last night in St. Louis, we had a great time splashing in the pool and sprinkler in Grandma's back yard.
Also in St. Louis, we got to visit my Gramps one last time before he passed away. I'm so happy that we got to see him and am truly thankful for his life. He always knew how to make a person feel special in the great big crowd of the family, and he loved to laugh. We'll miss him!
In Wisconsin, we celebrated Grandma and Grandpa Stanley's 40th Anniversary with a big party! No pictures of the day from me unfortunately-- I was too busy running after my crazy children!
The next day we headed off to Madison to catch up with some friends.
So great to see Amanda and her sweet baby Amelia. And a special thanks goes to her husband Steve who chased Charlie around the capital building so that I could complete a sentence. Charlie apparently found the doors of several representatives and knocked.
We visited Whitewater Lake with Aunt Cathy and her girls. Such a beautiful day!
Not having any fun at all...
Peter was under the impression he could just keep crawling in the water.
James and Lucy would run in the water together.
Sugar cookie.
Charlie and Peter were so content to sit here, and did just that for hours.
Back at Grandma and Grandpa's we had a hot dog roast.
Charlie loved spinning this thing around. It was heavy enough to make him feel like he was really getting something done!
Grandpa tending the fire.
Lucy with a smore!
After much going back and forth, and hemming and hawing, Lucy decided that she would like to ride Grandpa's tractor. She loved it, and even road one bigger than this!
Thanks to all of our family and friends for making our trip home so fun. We loved seeing all of you, and can't wait to do it again!
